Hi there, I am Geoff Allen with GeoffOnDigital.com.
Let's get right to it. "I need a new web site! Where do I start?" I get this question often from small businesses who want to try this themselves.
Well, great question. It all depends on how comfortable you are. The two answers I usually give are WordPress and WIX when It comes to the build your own crowd.
Incidentally, I can build you a basic 5 page website with your information and graphics – one that you can use for blogging, etc, for about $750 – depending on any specifics you might have.
But if you are the 'do-it-yourself' type and really want to stick with the basics... ya know, Home page, contact us, about page, maybe some staff members and a small blog, I recommend WIX for the uninitiated techie.
If you want something a little more robust and scalable, WordPress.com is probably the way to go. There are plenty of templates to choose from and these days they are a bit easier to setup and use than they used to be.
Just remember though, you might have to purchase some of the plugins and functionality that you need for both WordPress and WIX, but these days they are pretty reasonable. And they both have some pretty powerful ecommerce engines too. In the grand scheme a small price to pay if you plan to fulfil product or services online.
Incidentally, I can design a customized WordPress template for you if you're looking for that as well – if you just can't find anything that trips your trigger. And I can also set up a schedule to update your site with your content if you really just want to email me your changes and be done with the whole thing. **I mean you are probably working on the next electric car or rocket ship? Who needs to mess with this stuff, right? Call me Elon!
Seriously... Don't feel bad there are a lot of folks out there who love doing this kind of thing and others who KNOW it is something they need to do but they just don't have the time, desire or talent to mess with it.
So, if you are diving in yourself, WIX or Wordpress is a great place to start.
If you want help, calling me is a great place to start!

Thanks for watching. Catch ya next time
